the problem arises when someone with higher-than-average merit ends up collecting higher than average wealth because your society valued meritwhat happens when that person has children, is he supposed to give his offspring a decidedly worse life because of some notion of fairness? instead, he should give the extra accumulated resources to some lesser-merited person's child (whom is necessarily lesser-merited)?

most of the wealth is in private illiquid investments such as real estate or in very liquid stocks.first you have to steal older ppl's private ownership and rental properties to fire sale to kids from the new generation.
then u'll have to grab ppl's shares of stocks in 401ks and investment accounts to fire sale and crash the market.

good luck with thati'll just fund my kid's startups from age 5-10 and run it under his name with a bunch of expert advisors and transfer my wealth to him slowly by picking up the bill for all the costs. not to mention u risk major capital outflows, all the rich ppl will buy property and investments for their kids in international markets like buying rental properties in toronto or some shit and deprive the U.S. of much needed investment and capex.
no government or structure in history was able to stop this. it's easier for america to convert to communism or a monarchy than to enforce wealth transfers to offspring

CR. Even if they somehow restricted transferring wealth to living children, rich bros would just pair off with each other and "hire" each other's kids as consultants. So Guy A pays Guy B's dotter $100K a year for a noshow job, whereas Guy B pays Guy's A son $100K a year for a noshow job, and it turns out Guy A and Guy B both die near penniless. This would be impossible to police.
