It's made by MECC, the same company behind The Oregon Trail, The Yukon Trail, Museum Madness, and a bunch of other educational games.Freedom! sought to educate schoolchildren on American slavery. In particular, it used Oregon Trail-style mechanics to educate kids on the Underground Railroad. However, for reasons that will be seen in this thread, the game was quickly protested by parents and pulled from schools, with many copies deliberately destroyed.
