Author: How to derive aut from ism
There were five movies altogether, right? It's been a long time, but I recall all the sequels being really mediocre, while the original is a near perfect movie.Only other series I can think of that fits that pattern is the original Planet of the Apes?

At least Eastwood was in all of them. Heston was only in the first Apes movie and none of the others.Although low-budget, the rest of the Apes movies were interesting though as they formed a coherent story from one movie to the next, each movie showing different parts of the overall world timeline. None of the movies were "great" by themselves but a 5-movie sci-fi world-building epic is a rare thing to even get made.

Heston was in the second movie, actually, but in a much smaller role.I didn't care for the whole time travel plot in the sequels. It would've been better to have a plausible origin story like they had in the James Franco movie, rather than the future apes sort of bringing themselves into existence by going back in time.
